3 Songs: On Repeat

The Claypool Lennon Delirium – “Cricket And The Genie” (Les Claypool of Primus and Sean Lennon have combined forces for a new project whose debut album, Monolith Of Phobos was recently released by ATO Records.  Both Les and Sean are known for their off-kilter pop sense and that is combined with loads of mellotron to create a brand of funky and psychedelic prog-rock that only they could create.  Check out the two-part suite and standout album centerpiece here for the perfect introduction to their weird world.)

SAVAK – “Drop The Pieces” (SAVAK is the new project from members of The Obits, Edsel, Nation of Ulysses, and The Cops. Their debut album, Best Of Luck In Future Endeavors was released last month via Comedy Minus One and is the perfect distillation of their previous bands with skronking saxophones, sharp post-punk rhythms and reverb-rich 60’s psych-pop melodies all held together with a hardcore punk heart.)

Sega Genocide – “Descending Man” (The Columbus-based indie rock band recently released their long-awaited proper debut album, TRYS via Cleveland’s Just Because Records.  On it they combine visceral doses of psych-tinged garage-rock with infectious fuzz-pop smarts and loud/soft dynamics that captures the energy of their rowdy live shows for a very promising debut.)
