3 Songs: On Repeat

Fullbloods – “Kind Of Gentleman” (K.C. indie-poppers Fullbloods released their sophomore album Mild West today via High Dive Records.  The quartet trades in a nostalgic yet modern brand of indie-pop inspired by 70’s soft rock legends like Fleetwood Mac and Steely Dan combined with warped vintage synth lines, jangly guitar lines and catchy, velvet-smooth melodies throughout.  Check out the spaced-out Theremin-like synth squiggles and charming vocal melodies of the standout track here.)

Future Elevators – “Alabama Song” (Future Elevators is the solo project of Birmingham, AL-based multi-instrumentalist Michael Shackelford (The Rewinds, The Grenadines) and after touring and recording over the years with local favorites such as Maria Taylor and Through The Sparks, he has recently released his self-titled debut album through Communicating Vessels.  The excellent album arrives fully-formed; crafted with insight from his experiences with an eclectic yet cohesive sound that incorporates dusty folk, blues, forward-thinking R&B and hints of 70's glam and disco alongside 60’s psych-pop for a very promising debut.)

Witching Waves -  “Twister” (The London post-punk trio - Emma Wigham, Mark Jasper, and Ed Shellard - released their sophomore album, Crystal Café today via Happy Happy Birthday To Me Records.  On it they whip up a furious blend of noisy, fuzzed out guitar tones and frenzied rhythms with catchy dream-pop appeal.  Check out the tone-setting opening track and standout single here with its twisty early Sleater-Kinney-like riffs and riotous melodies.)
