3 Songs: On Repeat

Babes – “Lonely Forever” (The L.A.-based indie-pop band recently released, Untitled (Five Tears), their debut album via Barsuk Records.  The band consists of siblings and cousins and is led by the sweet vocals of Sarah Rayne Leigh, together they blend sun-streaked surf-rock, swaying doo-wop melodies and 80’s-inspired synth-led dream-pop into something infectiously anthemic and deliriously fun despite the emotional and personal lyrical themes.)

White Widows Pact – “The Watch” (The Brooklyn metallic hardcore quintet recently released their highly-anticipated debut album, True Will via New Damage Records.  On it they create an unrelentingly heavy and visceral blend of Florida-style 90’s death metal, sludgy southern rock and brutal NY hardcore with Entombed-like guitar fuzz and throat-ripping screams.  Guests include Sara Taylor of Youth Code, Liam Cormier of Cancer Bats, Aaron Heinold of Hivesmasher, and Leech of Theologian.)

Porter Ray – “Faces In My Memory” (Perceptive and poetic Seattle rapper Porter Ray – part of the Black Constellation crew along with Shabazz Palaces and THEESatisfaction – recently signed with Sub Pop and will release a new album next year.  In anticipation, he has self-released a new 6-song EP titled, Nightfall as a free download.  The songs were recorded during the same sessions and feature atmospheric, jazz-indebted production from frequent collaborator Kmtk along with Spence Mo, Dez Anthony and AyoB and featuring guests Ca$htro and JusMoni.)
