3 Songs: On Repeat

Kaia Kater – “Come And Rest" (Kaia Kater has quite an interesting back story – born in Canada with mixed Afro-Caribbean heritage, singer/songwriter/banjo player – but really it’s her smooth voice and timeless Appalachian roots music that takes the spotlight.  Kater’s sophomore album, Sorrow Bound was released last month via Kingswood Records.  Assisted by producer and multi-instrumentalist Chris Bartos (Sarah Harmer, Barr Brothers), it is a nice mix of four originals along with seven traditional folk tunes arranged in her engaging banjo-centric style, including one sung in French.)
Stream the album’s standout closing track and original tune with its propulsive flickering banjo figures and Gospel-soaked vocal melodies here:

Between The Buried And Me – “Famine Wolf” (The prog-metal veterans return with their cinematic seventh album, Coma Ecliptic – which blends classic 70’s-era prog-rock with their distinct brand of technical death metal - out now via Metal Blade.   Check out the dynamic standout track here with its chugging strings, swirling finger-tapped guitars and theatrical pop-leaning moments.)

T. Hardy Morris – “Me My” (The former frontman of the Georgia psych-rock band Dead Confederate recently released his sophomore solo album, Hardy & The Hardknocks: Drownin On A Mountain Top, via Dangerbird Records.  Improving on his promising debut, he has added in raw, grunge-smeared garage-rock guitar riffs and melodies to his country-leaning folk-rock sound that fits right in line with his Southern vocal snarl.)
