3 Songs: On Repeat

1. Keegan DeWitt - "Two Hearts" (The quite prolific and ever-changing songwriter returns with a new 7" Two Hearts/Reluctance, out now on Theory 8 Records. The title track is ultra catchy and danceable indie-pop, featuring vocals from Isaaca Byrd of Alabama-based indie-folk band The Bridges.)

2. U.S. Royalty - "Equestrian" (First single from their debut full-length Mirrors due out Jan. 25th features bluesy indie folk with tight vocal harmonies in the vein of Local Natives and Band of Horses.)

3. Gospel Claws - "Like A Freind (Pulp cover)" (Awesome and faithful cover of the Pulp classic from the Great Expectations soundtrack by Joel Marquard formerly of Dear and the Headlights and his Phoenix-based band whose debut C-L-A-W-S was released in Oct. on Common Wall Media.)

Free Friday: Israel Darling - Live at the Dotmatrix Project

North Carolina indie folk band Israel Darling, whose debut Dinosaur Bones and Mechanical Hands was #6 on my Top Ten list for 2009, are offering up a live recording for free download. The show was recorded in March at The Green Bean in Greensboro for a dotmatrix project show. The band put on an energetic show with each yelp, sour note and every bit of feedback preserved on favorites like "Samson The Mason", "I'm Dropping By" and "Sherwood St." along with new songs such as the yearning "Untitled", "Whistling Dixie" and "To New York City; To Miss Marie". Hopefully this live release is a teaser for a new album to be released next year...

Go download this live show and check out their excellent album while you're at it!

3 Songs: New Music On Repeat

1. Eulogies - "You Hide" (First single from Peter Walker's third album as Eulogies deals with visceral "life and death" emotions while retaining an optimistic pop sensibility. Tear The Fences Down is out Jan. 18th on Dangerbird Records.)

2. Junk Culture - "Summer Friends" (Much like his labelmate Girl Talk, Junk Culture's Deepak Mantena creates mashups from unlikely material but instead of pop music, Deepak uses his personal tape recorded sounds that he has collected over the years to help form the psychedelic, punk-infused and R&B-leaning songs on his latest EP Summer Friends due out Feb 1st.)

3. Elk - "Volleyball" (The Brooklyn based producer creates a poppy mix of World music, tropicalia and electronica and his debut Let's Get Married is out in Feb. on his own label, Shape Up Records.)

3 Songs: On Repeat

1. Surf City - "Crazy Rulers Of The World" (A blaring wall of guitars and psych-surf sounds highlight the opening track from the New Zealand band's excellent debut full-length Kudos, out now on Fire Records.)

2. Gospel Music - "Automobile" (Duet with Tracyanne Campbell of Camera Obscura, taken from the new bedroom-folk project from Owen Holmes of Black Kids. The duettes EP also features duets with members of Vivian Girls and Magnetic Fields and is out now on Kill Rock Stars.)

3. Wires Under Tension - "Mnemonics in Motion" (South Bronx duo combine danceable post-rock grooves with fluttering violins and horns on this standout track from their debut Light Science, filled with epic and athemic instrumentals, due out in Feb. on Western Vinyl Records.)
