My Brightest Diamond - "A Thousand Shark's Teeth"

Shara Worden and My Brightest Diamond will release their second album, "A Thousand Shark's Teeth" on June 17th, on Asthmatic Kitty Records. It is so refreshing when the sophomore release is just as good and/or improves on the debut. I would compare the sound of Shara's voice to Tori Amos channeling Jeff Buckley, and overall, the music sounds like a painting. There are so many carefully arranged layers of color with the unique instrumentation, all produced and arranged by Shara herself.
The opening track, "Inside A Boy", introduces the songs to come with it's icy guitar, fancy string arrangement and shuffling drum beat. And if lyrics like, "We are stars colliding, now we crash like lightening into love..." came from an Emo boy's mouth, we would roll our eyes...but delivered by Shara, it only adds to the beauty of the song. Check out the mp3 of "Inside A Boy" here: http://www.toolshed-media.com/ts/my-brightest-diamond-inside-a-boy.mp3 (right click to download)

New Mates Of State in May!

My wife and I are excited about this one! We got married last October and we used "Like U Crazy" from their last album, Bring It Back, in our wedding. We can't wait to see them tour again. Ok, I will stop freaking out like a twelve year old. Go to www.barsuk.com to sign up to receive an email when you can pre-order the new album.
"Though conceived as a duo, Mates of State have never failed to generate a trademark wall of sound built on dozens of varied voicings of keys, drums, and alternately lushly-layered and playfully-dueling vocals. On re-arrange us they move beyond these boundaries (their traditional organ sound is a distant memory, replaced with organic piano and synth sounds) with additional instrumentation — not to mention a quantum leap in songcraft apparent on instantly indelible gems like now, jigsaw and get better. Throughout re-arrange us, Kori's piano and the emergence of both Mates' lead vocals from their trademark harmonizing signal the next stage of Mates of State's evolution." (taken from: http://www.barsuk.com/)

Ten songs: get better / now / my only offer / the re-arranger / jigsaw / blue and gold print / help help / you are free / great dane / lullaby haze

New Black Angels Album + Mp3

Directions To See A GhostThe Black Angels
"Doves" (mp3)
from "Directions To See A Ghost"
(Light In The Attic)

More On This Album
This is one of my most anticipated records of this year. Since 2006's "Passover" I have been a huge fan of the Black Angels' throwback psychedelic-drone rock and tribal beats...it's like Velvet Underground playing on an Indian reservation.
Use the link below to pre-order the new Black Angels CD and download the entire album one month prior to release. Along with the instant download, you will receive a FREE limited edition Bonus EP featuring unreleased tracks when you pickup your physical copy at your local record store after May 13th.
